Picked up the pace today at Santos

John and I went and introduce Lee to Santos today. We got on the road a little after 8am. Knowing we would get to the trail head around 10:30, we decided to grab a breakfast sandwich along the way. This turned out to be a smart move as we got through the day.

We headed out and started off at a quick pace...9+ mph, peaking at 12.8 mph. We rode about 5 miles initially on a mix of yellow and blue trails. We headed back out and rode out to the free ride area across the street. John and Lee made a few runs on the jump section.

We then got on the red trail that borders the quarry. Lee was much faster, but the trail was a lot of fun. Some rocky sections, short climbs, and short downhills. Lee and John took a few runs on the wooden ramps. My legs were hurting after this point in which we logged about 8.5 miles at this point.

We took the long way back to the truck and rode Dog Bone, Twister (loved the tight turns on this one), Dr. Ruth, and Cow Bone before finally returning to the trail head. We all ran out of water about a mile before the end. After 16 miles in 2.5 hours of riding (+1.5 hours at the free ride area) and only eating a Powerbar, we all called it a day.
